Into Thin Air
Last fall I stumbled upon the movie "Everest". After learning that this tragic film was based on a true story, I found myself interested to read and learn more about it. Upon researching books that documented the accounts from the 1996 Everest disaster (I was just 3 years old), I found "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer. When I learned that Krakauer was a Seattle native, I was even more intrigued to read about this event from his perspective.
This book is an emotional read, as it tells the tragic details of the Mount Everest Disaster that took place in May of 1996. "Into Thin Air" paints an epic picture of the grandness, beauty, and danger of Mount Everest. It also depicts the physical and emotional toll that trekking Everest takes on each human being who dares to climb it. Krakauer writes a stirring and sentimental story that makes the reader feel deeply for each of the climbers that made their decent in May of 1996.
I highly recommend this read if you are enchanted by Mount Everest and want to learn more about the personal stories of the 1996 tragedy.
