The Little Room and the Big Room

The Little Room and the Big Room

I had a dream last night that I moved into a new house with a friend and her parents. The house was huge and it was beautiful. The inside finishings were hand carved wood and there was greenery hung throughout, almost like an atrium. Every room we stepped into was huge; the kitchen, the living room, even the balcony. The girl and I were on a search to find our own rooms, figuring that by the size of the rooms so far our rooms would be just as grand. When we finally stumbled upon the first room, her’s, we opened the door and we were really disappointed; the room was extremely tiny. There was one small window high above the bed and a closet about 6 inches deep. We left the room feeling sad but also excepting of the situation. I continued on the search for my room, figuring it would be the same size. After walking a long way down the hallway, the Mom motioned me over to a door. I prepared myself for slight disappointment, but that was ok. When she opened the door, to my surprise, the room was massive and it was the most beautiful room that I could have ever dreamed of having. There were sky lights, a reading nook, a closet that wrapped around the whole room, a king size bed with soft sheets and pillows piled in the corner. And I cried, because I wasn’t expecting anything but just a small room.

.

God always has bigger plans for us. He knows the desires of our hearts and He surprises us with things beyond our wildest dreams. Everyone is on their own journey, some might get the big room now, some might get it later. But God’s timing is perfect and His plans are mighty. While we wait for our big room, being content and happy with where we are at currently is so important. Being thankful for the journey, for the woods, for the peaks, and for the valleys - because He writes our story and He is the absolute best author.
