Getting Motivated to Go to Work
Getting motivated to go to work can be such a struggle. Work always has it ups and downs, whether we love our job or not. Some weeks are great, filled with opportunities and deadlines. Other weeks or days it can feel like a drag to get ourselves in the mental state to be happy about working another day. I work primarily from home, which can get very frustrating because it can feel repetitive and there are also a million distractions. I believe that habit is an extremely powerful thing and there are many ways we can change our mindset to be excited about our day, no matter what our job may be.
For me, having a morning routine can set me up for an incredibly positive day. How do I know this? Because when I get up late, drag my feet, don't take time to do my make up, am out of coffee and drop my keys under my car, I know that I am going to have a lousy day. Of course sometimes we can't prevent these things because life gets in the way, but we sure can try.
Here are a couple of things that I must do daily to set myself up for a good day:
-Get at least 7 hours of sleep
-Make my Morning To Do list the night before
-Make sure there is coffee available as soon as my feet hit the floor
-Get a work out in
-Take care of those daunting emails that really only take 5 seconds to respond to
-Eat something for breakfast
-Take 5-10 minutes to do some sort of meditation / journaling before I am out the door
This list may look sorta long but in reality (besides working out) this might take about 30 minutes. When I accomplish all of these things, my emails are sent, stomach is full, caffeine fix is satisfied, mind is peaceful, and body is feeling ready for a great day.
